Autumn in My Mind
Isabel
In a dream I found the love beyond
The burning sun with no way back
In a world of crystal and bright light
Where my soul would love forever to stay
I dreamed of a love with no shape or end
An invisible bond that kept me in its embrace
In this timeless place where everything seems extinguished
Its presence comforted my bowed heart
In every star I see his gaze
In every breath I hear he sings
Where our love shines pure and sacred
I want to find that hidden place again
Two loves from another horizon
A precious dream, a sweet illusion
I search for him at every night
I call him by the whole day
And a tender hope remains in my way
I look for him in my dark night
I call him during the whole day
And a tender hope remains in my way
Ladies and gentlemen, dear audience, my colleague Joe asked me to briefly explain this piece, which I called “Lydian, or the power of the eleventh.”
It is not a piece left to the free will of artificial intelligence, but rather a piano improvisation based on study, using the eleventh extension, without altering it, over a C minor chord.
That eleventh extension is exactly the same as a fourth, but if used in a major chord it needs to be raised by a half step to avoid a strong dissonance, and it is that mode that is known in modal harmony as Lydian.
Phew! I hope I haven’t bored you too much, ha ha ha, and I hope you simply enjoy it…
Ladies and gentlemen,
My name is Isabel, and I compose and produce my music under the name Green Emerald.
I am over sixty, and I gave up my career as a pianist many years ago.
As I began finding my way back to music, I discovered AI music tools. A whole world of possibilities opened up to me.
I started playing the piano again, working with a digital audio workstation, writing my own lyrics, and exploring hundreds of musical styles. Then I began publishing my creations.
That is where I met Joe, the Bluesman, my partner in this jazz adventure we call the I&J Jazz and Blues Club.
And now, I am proud to present a piece I have written and produced myself.
It Was Only a Dream.
My “One Guitar Ragtime” was inspired by Django Reinhardt, one of jazz’s most gifted and inventive guitarists. A devastating fire left two fingers of his left hand permanently impaired. Despite this, he developed his own playing technique and an unmistakable musical style.
